Did you know...
July is hay month at White Meadows, which means many long hours in the field. We have over 350 acers of hay to harvest, so that our beef cattle and the local horses can eat all winter long. Here are some interesting facts about harvesting hay:
1. Once Hay has been cut it must dry for 3 days before it can be made into bales!
2. In one day we can make 1500 bales of hay which equals 72 bundles or 36 tons!
3. A cow or horse can eat around 15 Kg of hay per day.
4. One Kilogram of hay contains approximately 2,500 Calories.
5. Therefore we harvest approx. 198,000,000 Calories per day.
